Lookie what came a knockin' on my door!
The stars must have been aligned just right. I called on a craigslist sewing machine and the owner just happened to be coming right down the street from me to collect her craigslist purchase. She brought it over for inspection and well what's a girl to do when there's a turquoise sewing machine in her house, except KEEP IT! It's not perfect, but then neither am I. Just wait, I've got some plans for this one.
FWIW, it's a Brother model 210 selectomatic IV. Made in Japan and guarenteed by Good Housekeeping! Do you know anything about it?
Diggln' the turquoise! If it is not a top drop in bobbin you may be able to shirr with it. Which would be shirr pleasure! Ha! Silliness. And look at that gorgeous stack of fabrics!

Not only is it a gorgeous color, but it looks like it might be made of metal, which means it can be used for a long time. What a find!

AWESOME find, Corie!
Little piece of advice: Please take this darling machine in for cleaning and oiling before you stitch a stitch. Think of this expression used by engineers: A machine doesn't run itself to death-it STANDS itself to death. Sewing with corroded and oxidized parts can mean death for your turquoise beauty. I have a solid metal old Bernina that will surely outlive me.
Congratulations!

Oh yes, you are a very lucky lady! I have two of these, one is green and one pink. The green one was my mom's and I grew up on it, starting when I was about 10. Made all my school clothes on it and instead of babysitting as a teenager, I earned my money sewing. My pink one came from my wonderful husband for Christmas in 1981. We had visited my folks for Thanksgiving and the guest bed was in mom's sewing room. I lifted the lid on the machine telling him I had grown up on it. When we went home he scoured every sewing machine shop looking for that machine. Mind you, the machine was about as old as I was back then. he found a pink one identical to mom's. To say the least, I was in shock on Christmas, and mom,....she cried. She couldn't believe that a man would remember what a sewing machine looked like after only seeing it for a few seconds, and neither did I. He surely does love me.
You will absolutely love her! If you need to know anything about her, I have the manual that came with mom's, unfortunately mine didn't come with one.
enjoy!......chris
